Al Multaqa Engineered Landfill
Discover the Al Multaqa Engineered Landfill, one of the oldest and most prominent environmental facilities in the Sultanate of Oman. Since its establishment in 2011, this landfill has marked a significant step forward in solid waste management through an innovative, scientific, and environmentally friendly approach. The site spans an extensive area of 1,034,721 square meters and is equipped with three carefully designed cells to accommodate a variety of waste types.
The landfill receives a wide range of waste, including bulky waste, green waste, slaughterhouse waste, expired foods, confiscated materials, deceased animals, spoiled or damaged materials, and more.
Al-Amerat Healthcare Waste Treatment Facility (HCWTF)
The Al Amerat Healthcare Waste Treatment Facility is the most technologically advanced in the Sultanate, handling 70% of healthcare waste generated. In 2024, the facility successfully processed over 2,822 tons of healthcare waste (HCW) in compliance with the latest international standards recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The facility uses two advanced techniques for waste treatment: incineration and autoclaving. The autoclave sterilizes and shreds waste, making it harmless, while incineration completely destroys pharmaceutical, toxic, and genotoxic waste.
The incinerator is equipped with an integrated system called the Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) to track and monitor the emission rates of gases produced during the incineration process, in line with national and international standards. Together with disposal facilities, "be'ah" provides an integrated system for comprehensive healthcare waste management services, ensuring effective, safe, and sustainable waste management practices from collection to treatment at the Al Amerat facility in Muscat Governorate.
Construction & Demolition Site (Al-Amerat)
The construction and demolition waste processing site in Al Amerat is equipped with advanced technology and is one of ten specialized sites in the Sultanate of Oman for processing construction and demolition waste, with operations starting in 2019. The site transforms the received waste into useful products such as aggregates and sand, which can be reused in construction projects.
The site receives approximately 1,200 tons of waste daily and processes about 1,360 tons per day. In 2024, the total waste received was estimated at 443,000 tons, while the total processed quantities reached 500,000 tons.
be’ah has dedicated 31 sites across the Sultanate to manage construction and demolition waste (C&D), where the waste is received and segregated from other materials such as wood, steel, plastic, bricks, and soil, and stored in designated bays for future processing.
The products resulting from processing are valuable resources that can be recycled and reused for other construction purposes, contributing to resource conservation and promoting sustainable waste management practices.
