Managing Director,
CC Energy Development

Which recent sustainable initiatives has your company introduced, and how do you see these shaping the industry in the coming years?
One of our most impactful sustainability initiatives is CCED’s comprehensive gas-to-power project, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and diesel consumption. Launched in 2023, this project involves the installation of power plants in Blocks 3 and 4 and the development of an extensive overhead power distribution network. By December 2023, both Ulfa and SHB stations were energized, marking a significant milestone in Phase 1. This innovation positions us as a leader in sustainable energy practices.
Can you share how your company is contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the impact your strategy will have?
CCED has been at the forefront of advancing sustainability within the energy sector by aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). By integrating cutting-edge technologies, we have successfully reduced our environmental impact while maintaining cost-effectiveness. Our gas-to-power initiative, which replaces diesel with cleaner natural gas, has significantly reduced gas flaring and generated power for our operations. This initiative is a cornerstone of our zero-flaring program, which has led to substantial cuts in greenhouse gas emissions. By 2025, we aim to reduce diesel emissions by 60%, eliminate cold venting by 2027, and achieve a 50% reduction in overall emissions by 2030. In line with global climate targets, we are committed to ending routine flaring by 2030 and enhancing asset integrity to prevent hydrocarbon leaks, thus contributing to a sustainable, low-carbon future while continuing to meet Oman’s energy needs.
What are some of the key innovations and eco-friendly initiatives that attendees can look forward to seeing from your participation at OSW?
At OSW, we will showcase CCED’s pioneering achievements in decarbonisation, waste reduction, and resource optimisation. A highlight is our focus on managing Produced Water by reducing its volume, eliminating reliance on evaporation ponds, and reinjecting it into underground reservoirs, all while safeguarding sweet water aquifers. Another area of innovation is our waste management strategy, where we are advancing efforts to upgrade, recycle, reuse, and remediate wastes, as well as minimising non-physical waste to enhance operational efficiency. These initiatives reflect our commitment to environmental stewardship and set a new standard for sustainable resource utilisation in the energy sector.
What value does participating in OSW bring to your company and your overall business strategy?
Participating in OSW allows CCED to strengthen its market presence by showcasing our industry-leading innovations and sustainability initiatives to key players. The event is a unique platform for networking with potential partners and clients, creating opportunities to expand our business in Oman’s evolving energy landscape. By participating, we stay ahead of technological advancements and regulatory changes, ensuring that we remain a competitive, future-ready energy company. Additionally, OSW aligns with our long-term strategy of supporting Oman’s sustainability goals and highlights our role as a key contributor to the country’s economic and environmental goals.
