Michelle Hennessy is the editor of The Economist’s Graphic Detail section, which visualises the world’s most significant stories through charts and maps. She joined The Economist in 2021 as a newsdesk editor, where she helped manage the newspaper’s homepage, app, and Espresso daily news briefing. 

Previously, Michelle was a correspondent with Reuters in Hong Kong, reporting from the front lines of the 2019 protests and covering the outbreak of COVID-19. She also served as an on-screen presenter for a daily news bulletin and hosted a weekly talk show on current affairs. Before that, she was a producer at the BBC during the 2016 US presidential campaign and Brexit. 

Michelle grew up between Paris and Alicante, and has since worked in London, Hong Kong, and New York. She has covered the World Economic Forum in Davos and studied in Birmingham and New Delhi for an MA in Political Science.
